11/12th Grade US History Final Topics

You will be asked to write essays about two of these six topics. One from before the 1870, and one after.

Before 1870
1. What factors shaped the early British Colonies in America, and how were the British colonies different from those of other European colonies.

2. How was the Government of the United States created, and why was it formed in the way that it was?

3. What trends in America led to the Civil War and how did the views of the North and South diverge?

After 1870
4. What factors led to the emergence of the Gilded Age and the Progressive era, and how did both of these time periods change the way Americans lived.

5. Explain in detail how the Great Depression occurred, why it was more severe that other economic depressions in American History, and how the Government combated it.

6. Explain the similarities and differences between WWI and WWII and identify why each are significant.
